Confidentiality Agreements

Science requires that others be able to repeat results, and it is at its best when researchers at different institutions are able to freely collaborate. Confidentiality Agreements (CAs) are standard agreements that are used when ideas need to be shared before they are ready for public dissemination. They can also be used to protect data and software rights. CAs are to source code, early-stage concepts and data what Materials Transfer Agreements are to samples, strains, devices and other tangible items. Interactions between universities and commercial entities often require these agreements to limit liability and prevent unwanted commercial use. If you have had a request for information, data, or source code and think there may be a need to protect it, contact us for a consultation.
